How to set picture links?

Usage.

A picture is sometimes better than 1000 words. If you have a picture which motivates your request on iDonate you can copy it on a shared drive and link it to your request. iDonate will show this picture, when users display your request. It is easy and will require you to just follow those steps:

.

  1. Get your picture in the perfect size. This is not a necessary step to display your picture but it will make is nice and fit perfectly to your screen size. The perfect size in pixel is 600 (width) x 200 (height). If your picture does not have this size, you might open it with any picture processing app and resize it.

  2. Find a public shared drive. An easy one is Google Drive. If you don’t have access to it, get an access here.  After you got access to your Google Drive, Create a folder and give it public access.

  3. Now just drag and drop your picture there.

  4. Make a right mouse click and get the internet link provided to access it. Just one tricky thing, you will need to change this link for accessing the picture into a link for showing the picture, as described below point 5.

  5. Now you will need display our request (or your offer) in iDonate, switch to the edit mode and paste this link into the field “Link to Picture”.

To get a link provided by Google Drive suitable for showing the picture, you will need to slightly modify it in this way:

The link you have got from Google Dive should look somehow like this format:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4GHZ_U3cIC2enVpeFk4NnV2bW8/view?usp=sharing

To get the link working on iDonate you will need to

1) replace the portion /file/d/ by uc?export=view&id=

2) and cut the portion /view?usp=sharing

The new link for iDonate out of the former link will look like:

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=0B4GHZ_U3cIC2enVpeFk4NnV2bW8

Once you have pasted it into iDonate you can try it by pushing the refresh button next to the link in iDonate.

Now you can save your request and users will see the picture when they display it.
