How to create a request?

Usage.

A request is needed if you seek a donation, you want to launch a fundraising campaign or if you are looking for volunteers for your project. There are two ways to create a request.

1. Add a new request (1st option).

From the start page (“TOP projects”) press the home button at the lower left corner. This will bring you to your iDonate home screen. This screen lists your offers.

From there press the button "My Requests". This brings you to the screen which contains your request list. Press the button "+ New Request" on the upper part of the screen to create a new request.

You will go through those steps, during the creation of a new request, while only the first two are mandatory:

  • Choose the request type (the type can be funds request or time request, which means volunteering request).

  • Enter the request text (only those two data are mandatory).
You can already press "Publish" to publish your request, but you might enter more data to support a more specific search for your request.

  • You can specify the six categories of the receiver profile, for which you are asking for support. You can specify some or all of the six category lists.

  • You will be able to enter the fundraising amount or the number of volunteering hours you would like to request (depending on the request type you entered before) and the date until when your request is supposed to be valid.

2. Request with reference to a published offer (2nd option).

From your request list press the button "Search for offers" in the lower part of the screen. This will bring you to the search criteria for offers. There you can search for published offers and apply for them. Refer to the section “How to initiate a donation” for more details on this.

How to create an offer?

Usage.

You will need to create an offer if you would like to donate funds or act as volunteer. Offers are very similar to requests in their structure. And they can be created in a similar way. Also you can choose one of both ways to create an offer.

1. Add a new offer (1st option).

If you are on the start page press the home button at the lower left corner. This will bring you to your home screen. It lists your offers.

Press the button "+ New Offer" on the upper part of this screen to create a new offer.

You will go through those steps, during the creation of your new offer - only the first two are mandatory:

  • Choose the offer type (this can be funds offer or volunteering offer).

  • Enter the offer text (only those two data are mandatory).
You can already press "Publish" to publish your offer, or go ahead with the following optional entries to support a more specific search.

  • You can specify the six categories of the receiver profile, which you would like to support with your offer. You can specify some or all of the six category lists.

  • Depending on the offer type you entered before you will be able to enter the amount of funds or the number of volunteering hours you would like to offer and the date until when your offer should be valid.

2. Offer with reference to a published request (2nd option).

You can go through the request search and see if there is a request, which you might be interested to support.

How to publish my offers and requests?

Offers and requests are published automatically once added (created via 1st option before). They will be available for search and users can apply for them. iDonate collects those applications and assigs them to your offer. It also will assign offers to your request.

Entries created from offers with reference to published requests or from requests with reference to published offers (2nd option) are not visible for other users (refer to section “How to make a donation”).

How to manage my offers and requests?

Usage.

By being active in fundraising and volunteering work you will be able to build up your good deeds account in iDonate. You will recognize soon that you will need to filter your activities depending on their status or to get an overview on your activities (see also the reporting section in this How-To guide).

1. Manage my offer or request list.

All your offers are shown on your offer list (main screen). All your requests are shown on your request list.

From your offer list or your request list you can push the icon on the upper right corner to filter on a certain status and see only the entries which have that status. iDonate distinguishes the status open (just created), requested (an allocation of a request to an offer is available), confirmed (an offer is confirmed for a certain request) or completed (funds paid or volunteering work performed).

2. Display my offer or request.

From your offer list (main screen) or request list you can tap an offer or request to display it.

4. Change my offer or request.

It might happen that you do not have or want to enter all the information at the time when you create your offer or request. You might for example need some time to create a picture which expresses your fundraising or volunteering project and provide it later. Or you might decide on the amount or the number of hours you would like to offer, in dependence of the request you will find. In all cases you will be able to change the data of your offer or request at any time.

  • After you taped the request or offer and you came to the request screen click on the icon with the pen (edit) on the upper banner of the screen. This will activate to the edit mode and you will see two more icons; one shows a disc (save) and one shows a trash can (delete).

  • Change or add the data you would like to and click on the pen icon to store your changes. If you go back without storing, you will anyway be requested to

  • Or click on the trash can icon, if you want to delete your offer or request. Note that you will be able to delete items as long as not requests or offers are assigned to those. If there are you will follow the way to contact the requesters or offerors and to change the text to describe that those items are not valid for applications.

How to make a donation (funds or volunteering)?

Usage.

A donation transaction (funds or volunteering) in iDonate distinguishes three steps. 1st is the intention, 2nd is the confirmation and 3rd is the completion.

1. Intention.

You can express your intention as offeror or as requester. If you would like to offer funds or time, your starting point for the intention will be the request details screen out of your request search results. If you think that the request might be interesting for what you are looking for you can press “Go for it...”. By pressing this button the requester will be notified of your interest in this request and can contact you using the iDonate in-app messaging system. Just wait!

Also you can contact the requester, for instance if you already would like to ask for specific information. For this, refer to the section “How to manage my messages” in this How-To guide.

Your intention as a requester will create an automatic offer for you and assign this request to it. You will see this offer in your offer list (main screen), marked as automatically created (a text prefix and a lock symbol). This will insure that this offer will not be shown is searches.

The intention as a requester is similar. You will need to starch with an offer search and display the offer, which you would like to apply for. From there you will be able to press the button “Go for it” to send a notification to the offeror, who can contact you using the iDonate in-app messaging system.

2. Confirmation.

Confirmations are reserved to offerors. As offeror you will be able to do a confirmation, once you have decided that you want to donate funds or to volunteer to a certain request. A confirmation will require a prior intention (refer to the section before).

For confirmation you will need to start with your offer form your offer list. Display your offer and you will see on the first of the lower buttons that this offer contains requests to confirm. By pressing this button you will see the list of applications.

Note that you can seek more requests prior to your confirmation, if you are still not found the one which you need. You can do this by pressing the button “Matching requests” on the lower part of the screen. This will immediately start searching for requests which exactly meet your profile specified in your offer. From there you can provide your intention in a similar way as described in the section before.

Once you are satisfied you can tap the one, you would like to confirm. You will be able to see the details of this request. You can choose to see more details with respect to the requester by clicking the “sheet” icon on the right side of the upper banner.

To confirm a request press the orange button “i-Donate” on the lower part of the screen.

3. Completion.

Completions follow confirmations and are also reserved to offerors.

If you donate funds and the requester has specified an online payment link, as offeror you will be to pay online. iDonate will connect to this payment link automatically.

If you decide to pay in another way or you if you seek to volunteer, you will need to agree with the requester.

In both ways you will be able to mark the transaction as being closed and your starting point will again be the offer details screen. On this screen you will see the orange button “Completion” on the lower part of the screen (this button is activated after your confirmation which you have done in the previous step).

Pushing this button will lead you to the transaction completion screen. This screen will show if the request enables an online payment and allows you to do so. It will let you mark the donation as completed by pressing the button “Complete”. It also allows you to share your good deeds by pushing the “share” icon and to rate the transaction with the requester by providing a stars rating and text comments.

Unlike any usual email tool the iDonate in-app-messaging system is designed around donation transactions. Every message is related to the pair "offer and request" it refers to. This frames the context and allows an anonymous communication without showing the email address or any other data to any of the communication partners. You can only see the offer and request numbers and text.

The details mode can be accessed by clicking the “Sheet” icon on the right of each message.

This will open a message details screen. This shows on the upper part the offer and request numbers related and the request text. On the middle part you will the selected message on the left side and the message history on the right side.

The button “Answer” on the lower part will allow you to answer the message.
